Chrismael — A Silent Fighter 
Chrismael is a little boy with autism. We’ve walked with him through moments of light and shadow. There was a time when he made incredible progress — learning, participating, growing with joy in his eyes.
But lately… something changed.
He started to withdraw.
He wouldn’t write anymore. He wouldn’t even touch a pen.
Each refusal felt like a quiet cry — and we listened, with patience, with love, with tears sometimes too.
Then yesterday… something beautiful happened. 
He took the pen.
He wrote.
No one forced him. It came from him. A moment so simple — yet we were all holding back tears.
Because in that single gesture, we saw his strength. His courage. His will to try again.Progress isn’t always visible. It’s not always loud.
But it’s there, in the silence, in the struggle, in the hope that refuses to give up.

A Chair Full of Hope 
Today, something beautiful happened.
We delivered a chair — but not just any chair. A special one, carefully adapted for Elicia. A chair that supports her body, respects her needs, and protects her from painful postural deformities.
For many, it might look like a simple piece of equipment. But for Elicia, it means freedom.
Freedom to sit comfortably.
Freedom to play like other children.
Freedom to be part of the world around her, without pain or limits.
This chair is the result of love, skills, and teamwork.

Le voyage de Chrismaël : Une séance de percée ! Nous sommes heureux de partager de merveilleux progrès avec Chrismaël ! Dernièrement, nous avons traversé une période difficile où il a montré une certaine régression, en particulier en utilisant les outils scolaires et en suivant les instructions, et il est devenu assez agressif. Notre objectif a été d’améliorer son écriture, sa concentration et la gestion de son agressivité.
Aujourd’hui, nous avons fait une découverte fantastique ! Chrismaël était incroyablement motivé. Il a volontairement choisi de faire l’activité préparée par son thérapeute, avant même d’envisager d’autres options. Il a maintenu sa concentration et son attention pendant 25 minutes impressionnantes et a suivi toutes les instructions données.
Nous sommes également ravis de signaler une amélioration significative de sa prise de trépied, même si nous allons continuer à travailler sur sa force musculaire.
Chaque pas en avant, grand ou petit, est une victoire, et nous sommes si fiers du travail acharné et de la détermination de Chrismaël ! Célébrons ensemble ce progrès !

A Decade of Love, Now a Lifetime of Mobility!Stories like Mandresy’s are why we do what we do! For 8 years, Mandresy, a child with cerebral palsy, was carried everywhere by his loving parents. His mom bravely endured back pain and physical exhaustion, sometimes missing out on places they wanted to visit.
But today, everything has changed! Tommy, one of our amazing builders, crafted this incredible wheelchair for Mandresy. His mom shared with us, « this is life-changing for them because it will make their life easier. »
This is the ripple effect of building devices that meet critical needs. So proud of Tommy and the whole team, and we want to extend a huge thank you for your donations—it’s because of you that we can make stories like Mandresy’s possible!

Just got back from a home visit with Elicia and her family, and it truly opened my eyes even wider to the incredible dedication and challenges some of our families face. The journey to their home was long and on roads I couldn’t have imagined.
Elicia’s mother’s commitment is awe-inspiring. To get to the bus stop in Andakana, she walks for a full hour, often carrying precious Elicia on her back and gently guiding her sister hand, across mountains and even rivers. Think about that for a moment.
When we finally arrived, their heartfelt surprise and words, « You were sent by God! » deeply touched me. They had actually planned to make the long
to Anani today to inquire about our next program session but were facing the impossible hurdle of affording the bus fare.
Seeing Elicia’s beaming smile when she saw us made every bump in the road worthwhile. We learned that their recent absence was due to her mother being seven months pregnant, making the arduous journey with Elicia no longer feasible. Her father desperately wanted to bring her, but the stark reality of their daily struggle for food meant he couldn’t risk missing a day’s work. If he doesn’t find work, they don’t eat.
This visit was a powerful reminder of our mission and the profound impact our work has. It underscored the immense obstacles some families overcome just to give their children access to the support they need. It fuels our commitment to continue reaching those who need us most.
Let’s keep these families in our thoughts and continue to find ways to make our services more accessible. Every little bit of support can make a world of difference.

We had an inspiring training session focused on two important topics:
Healthy eating with “Eat the Rainbow”

We also explored typical child development and why it’s so important to raise awareness in our communities. The earlier we detect delays, the earlier we can support the child through intervention—and that can make a big difference!

A big thank you to Olan, our amazing physiotherapist! Today, Olan worked with Soatia during her third session at the center, focusing on head lifting and control. We can already see incredible progress – she’s becoming more active and engaged, and it’s clear that she’s trying her best.
Although she’s more comfortable on her right side, Soatia is starting to make strides with grasping and rolling over. Olan’s dedication and care are making a real difference in her therapy, as he provides targeted support to help her build strength and movement on both sides.

Today, Joacquim, one of our autistic children, had a fantastic session with Margaret! He was fully engaged in all activities. We’ve noticed that he responds better when the session is conducted in English, which is why we always choose this approach for him.

Empowering Our Team Through Learning! Today, we had an incredible training session with Phil N Margaret Snell , an expert occupational therapist who is volunteering with us at the NGO. With her extensive experience working with children—especially those with autism and ADHD—she shared valuable insights that will help us better support the kids in our programs.

Congratulations to the L2 OT students! Today marks the end of their internship with us, and we couldn’t be prouder of what they’ve accomplished! Over the past weeks, they:
Built three assistive devices: a corner chair, a standing frame (verticalisateur), and a 90° chair. Learned about the process of occupational therapy and how to adapt solutions to meet individual needs. At Growing the Nations Therapy Programmes Madagascar, we believe in the power of teamwork, inclusion, and perseverance!
In this video, you’ll see several children participating in group therapy both boys and girls. Each child has their own goals, but in this session, they were combined into a shared objective, allowing them to support one another more effectively.
You’ll notice how they accomplish tasks despite the challenges posed by disabilities and illnesses.
Here, children with cerebral palsy engage in activities designed to improve motor coordination and planning. They help each other complete tasks, demonstrating that both hands can work together and adapt to find solutions.
Some of the children face difficulties with socialization and color differentiation. With the therapist’s guidance, they encourage and assist each other throughout the activity.

A Wonderful Day in Anani! Today, we had the joy of welcoming the second-year occupational therapy students for their internship! They are part of the ninth cohort, with a total of thirteen students. Their goal during this internship is to observe OT practices and design assistive devices.

Dianah’s Journey – A Story of Hope and Progress Dianah is one of our newest clients, and her story reminds us why we do what we do!
When she first came to therapy at Anani Center, she had weakness on the right side of her body and wasn’t using either of her hands. But that didn’t stop her family from giving her the best chance at progress. Despite living far away in Manjakandriana, they travel to Ambohidratrimo every week for therapy—showing incredible dedication and love.
Thanks to their commitment and the amazing work of our therapists, Dianah can now pick up snacks and bring them to her mouth! She’s also starting to use both hands together in different activities—a huge milestone!

First Day of Therapy at Akanin’ny Nofy! Today marks the beginning of an exciting new journey! Our occupational therapist and physiotherapist have officially started their work at Akanin’ny Nofy
During this first session, we introduced ourselves and shared our mission: to support individuals in improving their daily lives—whether through enhancing mobility, promoting independence, or improving overall well-being. Occupational therapy helps develop essential life skills, while physiotherapy focuses on movement and physical function.
We also had the privilege of meeting with patients and families, listening to their needs, and starting assessments to provide personalized care. This is just the beginning, and we are excited to move forward together!

This beautiful initiative comes from Asso Titel, and we are honored that they have invited us to join them on this journey. Located in the Paul Minault compound in Androhibe, Akanin’ny Nofy is a rehabilitation center dedicated to providing care and support for individuals in need of therapy services.
As part of this collaboration, Growing the Nations Therapy Programmes Madagascar will bring occupational therapy and physiotherapy to the center. Our team will work alongside the center’s staff to help individuals gain independence, improve mobility, and enhance their quality of life.
We firmly believe in holding hands with everyone who shares our vision of a just and inclusive society. Together, we can create real change and ensure that rehabilitation is accessible to all.

Today, our physiotherapist ,Olan worked on improving Ezra’s ankle flexibility. Since he has calf muscle tightness, they focused on a crouching position to stretch his calves, enhancing mobility and preventing movement restrictions.
Combining occupational therapy and physiotherapy is essential for children like Ezra. While physiotherapy helps improve strength, flexibility, and movement, occupational therapy focuses on daily activities, coordination, and independence. After a stroke, she faced many challenges in daily life, but through occupational therapy, she has regained her independence. She can now:

Two years ago, we had the privilege of welcoming R. into our care. R. lives with hemiplegia, a condition that affects one side of her body, impacting her mobility and stability. Since then, we’ve been working on strengthening her hip stability and improving her walking skills.
While static stability remains a challenge, her incredible motivation during every session inspires us to keep pushing forward. Her determination highlights the importance of early intervention and specialized care in supporting individuals with hemiplegia.

We’re thrilled to share the amazing progress of one of our little stars, Narovana.When Narovana first joined us, she was facing motor developmental delays—at just 1 year old, she could only sit. But look at her now! She’s crawling effortlessly and is starting to learn how to stand on her own.
Her mother shared her joy with us today, saying the whole family is so proud of her achievements—grandparents, father, and everyone else are celebrating her progress!

Creating the right environment can make all the difference in therapy! By minimizing distractions and offering a more structured, calming space, clients can focus better and engage more fully in their sessions. For Dino, these changes at our office have led to great progress—he’s following instructions more easily and is much less hyperactive, which is helping him get the most out of his occupational therapy. Every Tuesday, we have the pleasure of doing occupational therapy with the amazing kids in the integrated class at EPP Ambohidroa. This week, the kids took part in a fun activity focused on colors and improving hand-eye coordination with colorful cards. It was heartwarming to watch them grow more confident with each turn, handling the cards with increasing skill. We’re so proud of their progress and the boost in their self-esteem!

For the past few months, our patients have been benefiting from physical therapy sessions with our therapist, @rakotomalalafanevanantenaina Faneva Rakotomalala. Her role in rehabilitation is essential!
Thanks to physical therapy, our patients are improving their mobility, strengthening their bodies, and gradually regaining independence. These sessions also help reduce pain and enhance their quality of life.

We used to have these two little boys who were so strong-willed! 
They had difficulty in listening, following disciplines, and cooperating well. But we never gave up on them!

We want to share the inspiring journey of a remarkable girl named Elicia. She has been with us at Anani since 2020, and what a journey it has been! !!!!!Despite the challenges she and her family face, they have never missed a session, showing incredible dedication and resilience.
When Elicia first arrived, she didn’t even know how to roll over. But today, she’s sitting and playing on her own, full of joy and determination! It’s amazing to witness her growth and the spark of independence in her eyes.
Elicia’s parents bring her to Anani every Wednesday for vital occupational and physiotherapy sessions, despite their difficult circumstances. Their commitment is truly heartwarming, and it reminds us of the power of support and community.

Exciting Progress with Agnès! We are so proud to share the incredible journey of one of our clients, Agnès, who has been making great strides recently!

Exciting Milestone Alert! We are thrilled to share the incredible progress of Stefanasy! When he first arrived at the center, he struggled to communicate and couldn’t make any sounds or words. His parents set a clear goal: to help him develop his communication skills.
Fast forward to today, and we couldn’t be prouder! Stefanasy can now repeat some words and is starting to express himself little by little. Every step forward is a victory, and we are so happy to witness his growth!

. We have successfully achieved our initial goal of improving his patience, as he can now stay focused for about 25 minutes, which is a significant improvement.

last Thursday and Friday, we celebrate a moment of gratitude and joy.We have successfully concluded our vacation program, an eight-week initiative dedicated to supporting children with learning difficulties.
In addition to the celebration, we administered the VMI (Visual-Motor Integration) post-test today to evaluate the children’s progress. The results not only show significant improvements but also highlight the positive impact of this program.
It is thanks to you that this dream has become a reality. We would like to express our deep gratitude to:

GNTP Update: Empowering Lives Through Therapy! Hey everyone, we’re excited to share some amazing news with you! At GNTP, we provide occupational therapy sessions for everyone, and we are proud to see our clients, like Kanto, a young and amazing autistic child, making incredible strides in their communication skills.
Kanto’s progress is truly inspiring. She now knows almost all the names of colors, which is a remarkable achievement. Her ability to recognize and identify these colors showcases her dedication and hard work during therapy sessions.
Not only that, but Kanto is also starting to repeat words (names of things or images) during her therapy sessions. This is such a crucial step in her journey towards better communication, and we couldn’t be happier for her.

Maintenant que nous en sommes à la 6e semaine, nous constatons déjà de merveilleuses transformations chez de nombreux enfants, dont Rayan.Rayan, un élève d’Ivato, est un véritable exemple du succès du programme. En seulement un mois, il a réalisé des progrès remarquables. Là où il avait auparavant des difficultés avec l’endurance pour l’écriture et les exercices physiques, il complète maintenant chaque tâche avec confiance, et son écriture s’est également considérablement améliorée. C’est réconfortant de voir un tel progrès, tout cela grâce au programme de vacances !
